Early day motions by members of parliament deplore everything from graffiti to assaults on emergency workers.
Lynne Jones calls for action on wheel clamping, which has been licenced by the SIA since 2005. She speaks of instances of motorists falling victim to aggressive and predatory tactics used by vehicle clampers even when licensed by the SIA, such as the use of `decoy’ vehicles to encourage parking, the immediate clamping of vehicles with out-of-time paid for parking, insisting on the payment of release fees in cash only and intimidating behaviour towards vulnerable individuals. The MP calls on the Government to enact legislation to bring the situation in England and Wales into line with that prevailing in Scotland, where vehicle clamping on private land is illegal, having been deemed in a court ruling to constitute extortion and theft. That March 2007 EDM in a month had gained 44 signatures.
In another March EDM, Lindsay Hoyle calls on the Government to make more funds available for the introduction of CCTV cameras on railway stations. After a month, that gained 50 names.
