Networkable Access

by msecadm4921

Available through Reading-based distributor Norbain, MICROgarde is TDSi’s entry level range of networkable products.

Supplied with free software, the system has been developed to provide an access control solution that delivers the manufacturers say many of the benefits of much larger systems.  It’s available in a two door version, with or without power supply unit.

Each MICROgarde II controller features distributed intelligence and operates as part of a system network, providing users with full control and event reporting which may be customised to suit individual project requirements – including search and sort criteria.

For users requiring an entry level system, MICROgarde offers the makers say low cost of ownership.

With a capacity of 5,000 card holders, the MICROgarde II system, used with the supplied MICROgarde software, is capable of supporting up to 400 doors. Features include an automatic fire door release (on selected doors, upon an active input); variable lock times to suit individual needs – for compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) – and optional input/ output modules to allow other devices and systems, for example intruder alarms, to be controlled and monitored.

The system’s intuitive MICROgarde PC software also makes installation and maintenance straightforward it is claimed, and with the option of a TCP/ IP module, the controller may be connected to an IT network if required.  In case of a break in communications to the PC host, MICROgarde’s battery-backed distributed intelligence allows the controller to continue to operate and make decisions until links are restored; at which point, stored events are uploaded directly to the PC.

Supplied in either a robust ABS, or for the power supply version, a metal housing with painted finish, the system is fast and easy to install, with simple colour coded connections, according to the makers.

"MICROgarde is compiemented by a full range of readers and accessories that provides users with a proven solution for a wide range of applications," says Gareth Ellams, access control manager for Norbain. "It delivers on both value and performance, making it a popular choice for installers and end-users alike."
