The Port of Liverpool, one of the busiest in the world, has security provided by the Port of Liverpool Police. All the security alarm systems within the port are now handled by the Bold RX2000 multi-protocol receiver and the Mini-Bold alarm management software running on Microsoft Windows 2000. Port Crime Prevention Officer Mike Chandler says: ?When the time came to upgrade the system which we had been running for several years, our main concern was to find a reliable solution which could handle all the latest formats and protocols at the same time as being simple and functional for the operators. The Bold system fulfilled the criteria perfectly.? From within the police communications room, all the information about the systems and alarm events are held on the Bold data-base. In the event of an incident, this can be instantly accessed and actioned, the system also providing a comprehensive history log. Mike Chandler adds: ?The Bold system has proved to work extremely well and we now have the flexibility to expand the system and take advantage of the new technology.” Bold Communications designs and supplies communications and management systems for the signalling applications. The company also offers a 24/7 technical support service to all levels of alarm receiving centres.
