UK Trade & Investment says inward missions of officials from USA, Norway, Portugal, Singapore and Belgium are going to the annual Airport, Port and Terminal Security (APTS) conference and exhibition, at London’s Olympia Conference Centre on November 10 and 11.

The officials will include: Mark Mancuso, Deputy Director of Aviation Public Safety, Houston Airport; Mark McKay, Manager International Security, American Airlines; Terry Shear, British Embassy, Washington; Ann Sigrid Hamran, Port Director, Port of Oslo; Jon Loken, British Embassy, Oslo; and Angela Magalhaes, British Embassy, Lisbon. As part of APTS, UK Trade and Investment are also holding a seminar on global opportunities in the maritime sector. Taking place on November 9, the seminar is onboard HMS Wellington, the frigate permanently moored by Temple Stairs on the Embankment in central London. The programme will include presentations on: regional piracy and terrorism in the Far East; US Homeland security; case studies from leading UK companies who have been successful in winning business overseas; and building strategic alliances and partnerships with overseas corporations. UK Trade and Investment commercial officers will also be available to offer advice on trade development opportunities in the security sector.

What they say

APTS Event Manager, Michael Costain says: “We’re pleased to be working with UK Trade & Investment again and delighted that so many internationally recognised transport security specialists will be attending this year’s event. It means that APTS is truly Europe’s annual meeting place for those interested in new ideas and new technology in aviation and maritime security." Jason Castellino from UK Trade & Investment says: “APTS 2003 raised our profile to key players in the airport and ports sector. UK Trade & Investment are pleased to continue our support for APTS 2004 by running the pre show seminar and bringing over senior representatives from major markets to participate in the show.” APTS has a conference on aviation and maritime security with a focus on policy, innovation, politics and best practice in countering the threat worldwide, say organisers. Running alongside the conference is a trade exhibition. Exhibitors at the event include Smiths, Rapiscan, Qinetiq, Thales, L3, Corus Group, CEM Systems and many more.
