Mercury Packaging says that it is set for expansion following delivery of a new printing press from Italy.
Based in Nottinghamshire, Mercury Packaging reports that it specialises in packaging for the security industry. The remainder of its international client base is in the promotional mailing and publishing industries.
"On the security side we produce tamper evident, track and trace bags mainly for export with France, Belgium and Scandinavia our main markets,” says managing director Tony Stanger. On Wednesday June 13, Mercury took delivery of a printing press from Italian firm Uteco. The new press will enable Mercury to do their own printing at their 25,000ft2 facility on Lowmoor Business Park, driving efficiency and with it, a recruitment drive, as the firm looks to expand its workforce of 30 by up to 50pc.
“This is a major investment in the business,” Mr Stanger adds. “By doing our own printing here onsite we do not have to rely on external resources so much. It gives us greater flexibility and versatility but even more crucially it gives us quality control.” Total investment in the new machine is £1.2m . financed by Yorkshire Bank’s Financial Solutions Centre (FSC) in Nottingham. Carl Ashley, senior partner at the FSC says; “Tony and the wider team at Mercury Packaging have already built up an excellent business with an enviable reputation in their industry so we were very keen to hear of their plans for the future. Having also expanded their premises relatively recently, adding a larger unit to their existing space on Lowmoor Business Park, they are clearly a company that has exciting times ahead of them and we are delighted to be able to finance this new press.”
