Restoration Standard

by msecadm4921

The building and restoration industry engaged in fire and flood repair has received criticism over the years for failing to provide a uniform measurable service. Many failures have become apparent and a recognisable badge of competence is one.

A new training and certification initiative from www.bradi.org seeks to combine training and the recognisable certification of contracting companies and their employees through internationally recognised accreditation.

The training provides solutions to drying and decontamination and this is combined to a management system BSEN 45011 which is to be accredited by CORGI.

CORGI quality contractors are synonymous with the gas industry but now the brand is to be extended to cover the accreditation of the restoration industry. Grandfather rights are available to companies who can prove competence although some training is required to bring companies up to speed with new technologies and industry. Trail membership of the scheme is free and includes member benefits including a web discussion blog and various discounts from manufacturers and suppliers.

Companies will have their management systems and actual jobs audited to ensure quality and compliance to industry standards which are agreed.

The training available covers fields as varied as death and trauma scene, fire and flood restoration outbreak control and CBRN terrorism decontamination and defence.
