Mike Schuck was the latest winner of the annual Peter Greenwood award for contribution to the private security industry.
It was presented by Simon Imbert and Una Riley at the BSIA annual luncheon in London on July 16. More to follow.
It’s to mark the work by Mike in the setting up and running of Action Against Business Crime, based out of the British Retail Consortium (BRC). It’sd an umbrella organisation for business and retail crime reduction partnerships, whereby members in a town or city share information (according to data protocols) about known offenders, with the common interest of cutting crime, to make places more attractive for shoppers and staff alike.
In the 1970s the BRC was born out of two trade bodies, the Retail Consortium and the British Retailers Association. Michael Schuck was 32 years in the Met Police. He worked on inner London borough operational policing; public order, dealing with football, major public events and disorder. Retired as a divisional superintendent, he became head of security for a major retailer. He moved to the BRC as Assistant Director for Retail Crime Policy.
