Scots Control

North East installer 2020 Vision Systems has won a new contract worth just short of £100,000 on security at one of Scotland’s most visited conference centres.

Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), which has held events attended by the likes of Princess Anne, Nelson Mandela and Al Gore, has awarded 2020 Vision the contract to upgrade its CCTV after a competitive tender.

2020 Vision, based in North Shields, is to upgrade and revamp the CCTV control room and recording system and providing a full migration pack, which will allow the EICC to integrate fully digital. The contract also includes relocating the control room to a different area of the EICC site.

Peter Houlis, managing director of 2020 Vision, said: "After a rigorous tender process the EICC felt that our plans best suited their needs and would deliver on time and in budget. The EICC is planning to expand and our system will provide them with the opportunity to do so as and when without the need for re-wiring."

The EICC was custom designed for conferences, conventions and exhibitions and has played host to a number of momentous events. Since opening its doors in 1995 the world class conference venue has welcomed over 700,000 delegates to over 2000 events.

Commenting on the contract

EICC Marketing Manager Sandy Pearson said: ‘We place a premium on the safety and security of our delegates, who frequently include heads of state, government ministers and global business leaders. 2020 Vision Technology stood out through investing the time required to understand our business needs. The resultant CCTV system will aid us with enhanced picture clarity and storage as well as being scalable and well supported. The new system will not only support our current needs but has also been chosen because it can support our development plans. In 2012 the EICC will deliver an additional 17,840 sq m of function space and will attract 95,000 delegates annually,".
