LAN Device

by msecadm4921

Borer Data Systems has begun shipment of the Midspan Bridge, a device which enables access control and alarm management devices at sites to be connected and powered over a standard Local Area Network (LAN).

The Midspan Bridge injects power into a standard CAT5 network, data cable without impacting data, while a power adapter splits the power from the data signal at each access point. This allows for multiple door sets consisting of a magnetic lock, in and out card readers and door alarms to be powered without installing local mains power supplies at every door, according to the firm.

The makers claim system is economical to run as it offers reduced power consumption, faster, easier installation, proactive door monitoring to spot potential problems before they happen and significantly reduced maintenance.
