The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has hailed its first briefing roadshow of Scotland as a success.
The regulator visited five Scottish cities in five days – Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness – to brief Scottish based security companies and stakeholders on the changes.
Presentations were given by SIA board members, SIA staff, Scottish Executive officials and managers and executives from the private security industry. Licensing and regulation of the private security industry extends to Scotland from November 2007. In this series of briefings to providers of private security services and interested stakeholders, SIA representatives, headed by SIA Acting Chairman Robin Dahlberg, informed on the rationale and proposed timetable for regulation.
What they say
Robin Dahlberg said: “The SIA roadshows were well attended and a great success. They not only gave the Scottish security industry the chance to learn more about the changes ahead, but they encouraged useful and positive debate among the attendees and SIA representatives. I look forward to the next round of roadshows in June when we will be meeting buyers of private security services in Scotland and informing them on the benefits of licensing and regulation.”
The next round of SIA roadshows will be visiting Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness on 5 – 9 June. The SIA adds that it is also proposing to visit: Orkney Island -13 June, Shetland -14 June, Skye – 20 June, Outer Hebrides – 21 June.
