SIA Visits More

by msecadm4921

Another 25 firms had a ‘compliance visit’ from the Security Industry Authority, on Friday, February 10, the SIA reports.

As part of what the regulator has termed Operation Forewarn, investigators visited the premises of 25 security companies. The aim: to ensure directors of the companies understood their obligations under the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (PSIA 2001), and the consequences of not complying when compulsory licensing for contract security staff comes in on March 20.

The 25 companies were considered by the SIA to be at risk of not being in a position to be able to supply their customers with enough licensed security staff after March 20. Further visits may follow; 27 were visited in January.

During the visits the directors of the ‘high risk’ companies were asked to read and sign a compliance notice acknowledging that they understand the terms of the PSIA 2001, their obligations under the Act, and the consequences of non-compliance with the law.
