Station Award

by msecadm4921

The staff at New Beckenham Station in July received an award for station safety. The award, part of the Secure Stations Scheme managed by the Department for Transport and British Transport Police, is in recognition of work to ensure a safe environment for passengers and staff when using the station.

Charles Horton, Managing Director Southeastern, said: “The staff here at New Beckenham have been working extremely hard to ensure that all our passengers feel safe and secure whenever they use this station. This award is real recognition of this and we will continue to make sure the excellent standards we have set are maintained. As of December this station will be benefiting from the new timetable with an extra five peak trains to London further enhancing the stations appeal and encouraging more people to use the trains.”

The award, presented by Jacqui Lait, Member of Parliament for Beckenham, is an acknowledgement of the on-going effort to deter crime and anti-social behaviour at New Beckenham Station. Undertaken with a number of organisations including Bromley Council, Transport for London, British Transport and Metropolitan Police, the award is dependent on meeting security criteria including:

· Reduction in crime rates at the station

· Staff with conflict management knowledge

· Good station maintenance including, CCTV, lighting, use of corner mirrors, signage, removal of graffiti within 24 hours, fencing and boundaries

· Positive results in an independent passenger survey.
