Dublin City University has replaced its analogue CCTV with a digital recording system.
The university on an 85 acre campus stands three miles north of the River Liffey in the Irish capital. The CCTV system comprises 115 cameras and seven 32-channel Integral DVX digital recorders, installed by manufacturer Andover Controls over a week and a half in May 2003. The recorders are fully networked and provide authorised users with access to images from any camera on the site via a network connection or the internet. Ray Wheatley, Security Manager at Dublin City, says, "The CCTV requirements of the university are very high. We take our responsibilities to students, staff and those who fund and run the university very seriously. In order to ensure we have the best possible CCTV solution, we chose an Integral DVX system to be installed after meeting the Andover team at the IFSEC awards. The Integral provides a comprehensive and powerful security solution for our large and busy campus." Mike Kelly, Director of Buildings at Dublin City University, adds: ‘The network facilities are a real bonus. The system can be administrated from anywhere by an authorised user. The speed of retrieval and quality of images has been very impressive and the whole system is very easy to use. The benefits the system offers over our old analogue system are endless.’ The university has bought a Partner Pack through one of its corporate identities – Dublin Software Park – and are promoting the Integral product range to the university community.
