Waste company Veolia Environmental Services South Downs sought an efficient, ergonomic way for their weighbridge operator to identify a vehicle on the weighbridges and verify that it is correctly aligned.
After projects at many waste treatment facilities, Teleprecision was called in, with their Site Sentinel Plus-based CCTV system. Sarah Edwards, Project Manager, Veolia ES South Downs, said: "Due to the physical space limitations, we were unable to lay the weighbridge area out so that the operator could see the front of a vehicle easily. Adding a viewer to the CCTV project is an excellent solution. We’ve seen the Teleprecision Point and Shoot camera control at other sites and it makes the operator’s job really simple."
Jon Martin, CTO at Teleprecision, said: “Site Sentinel is designed with expansion in mind. Everything is network or bus based and in this instance we were able to add the new viewer to the system using Veolia’s existing fibre optic infrastructure. The Touchscreen system is a really tidy solution; it occupies a minimum of desk space so it can be placed within easy reach of the operator for when he needs to move the cameras." Ian Martin from the Pebsham, East Sussex site staff is the main user of the CCTV. He said: "This new system is very effective; sometimes it is impossible for me to catch the number plates of vehicles as they drive up to the bridge and by the time they’ve stopped at the window it’s too late. This gadget takes the pain out of it; it gives me a good clear picture of the number plate quickly every time. I’ve even got views from all the other cameras on the site at the touch of a button so I can check what’s going on and keep an eye out for safety.”
