A UK wholesalers is using Tracam’s sophisticated track mounted CCTV system, the makers report.
Not only has the system ‘paid for itself’ within the first 12 months of installation it has also provided video evidence for successful prosecutions, the manufacturers.
The stationery specialists are using Tracam in six sites around the UK linked via ISDN to their main control centre. Because Tracam’s control unit is compatible with most popular protocols found in modern installations, the track mounted system was easy to integrate with the company’s existing CCTV surveillance systems.
A typical installation would involve the Tracam track system operating across loading bays and mezzanine floor levels to cover picking areas and storage aisles. The ability to remotely view areas with such accuracy has enabled the company to allocate man-guarding staff to other duties. The whoesaler said: “We plan to trial Tracam with a broadband connection which would enable us to remotely control the Video Transportation Unit that houses the zoom camera in ‘real-time’ with optimum picture quality. If, as we suspect, the broadband trial is a success the system will deliver even greater value."
The system was installed by Vigilant Security Services who have a long relationship with Tracam. Tracam Director, John Powell, said: “Warehouses and distribution centres are an ideal situation for a track mounted CCTV surveillance systems. Tracam provides a reliable CCTV unit that can be remotely accessed to provide a real return on investment. We keen to see the results of the broadband link as we have a number of other customers looking to utilise this mode to transmit video footage.”
