Wireless Bank

EMS Group has shipped its one millionth radio device to Lloyds TSB Bank plc

It’s part of the installation of the wire-less Universe+ (plus) security and personal attack system in a number of its branches and offices around the UK. The manufacturing of the one millionth radio device comes after a year full of milestones for EMS. This last year has seen EMS’s 40th anniversary, doubling its UK manufacturing and operations centre to 40,000 square feet and introducing a five-year warranty on all of its products. The five-year warranty follows on from a recent ‘zero defect’ policy in its manufacturing facility, which underpins the wire-less systems.

Lloyds TSB have been a user of EMS Group’s radio staff protection systems for more than 20 years. Universe+ (plus) provides the bank with a future-proof solution, the makers say, that has the flexibility to allow the system to be moved and upgraded if the branch or office layouts change, without the need for re-wiring.

Installed by EMS Group’s approved partner, Choice Security, the Universe+ (plus) provides both intruder security facilities and a personal attack system for the staff working in the branches. The heart of the system is the EN-50131 compliant Integra alarm control panel that provides features and programming functions to meet most applications, the makers say. The bank is also using the access control facilities built into the Universe+ (plus) system and has chosen the new 7500 hand-push personal alarm transmitter for its staff protection.

Also available as part of the Universe+ (plus) family is the ACU, a unique universal radio interface that connects any security alarm panel to the Universe+ (plus) range of wireless devices. This enables any existing hard-wired security system to be expanded without the need to install additional cable, no matter what make of control panel is used. Using 868Mhz two-way secure communications, the Universe+ (plus) ACU provides a low cost solution for system upgrades, that can be installed without disrupting business operation or damaging the fabric of the building, it is claimed. In addition to the Universe+ (plus) family, Herne Bay-based EMS Group also make wire-free radio based systems for analogue fire detection, voice evacuation and staff location and protection.
