Pubwatch conference

by Mark Rowe

Cheshire Police Chief Constable Janette McCormick and Dave Humphries, interim chief exec of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) are among the invited speakers at the 16th National Pubwatch Conference. It’s running at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Trinity Street, in Chester city centre, on Tuesday, February 26.

Organisers say that Pubwatch has a track record of bringing together the pub and hospitality sector, enforcement agencies and others to work on reducing the problems associated with alcohol and violence.

The day will offer a legal update from barristers on issues affecting Pubwatch schemes and the pub trade generally, besides breakout sessions as a forum for debate; on partnership working with BIDs (business improvement districts) and counter terrorism in the night time economy (NTE).

Organisers add that you get to meet other Pubwatch representatives from around the country and share ideas and good practice. There will also be a ‘surgery’ where
National Pubwatch representatives will be on hand to answer queries relating to local watches. To see more details and to register visit http://www.nationalpubwatch.org.uk/events/.
