Audio and video intercom

by Mark Rowe

New from Dahua Technology is a video intercom product, SIP, that runs on Linux. It’s for offices, housing complexes and other buildings, offering management of visitors and communications on site.

The intercom supports standard SIP protocols, including cameras, mobile phone app, and an integrated platform. The intercom units can be installed indoors or you can choose a SIP phone. SIP phones can create group calls between indoor units so people are able to listen in from anywhere. Calls can be made within the house or to other houses with indoor units; and calls can be made between all devices, for example in an emergency.

A mobile phone APP function is for when visitors press the intercom; a call will be forwarded through the indoor unit to your phone. When you go out, you can set calls to be forwarded to your mobile. By using the settings, the indoor unit can be programmed to forward to your mobile phone when no one answers the intercom or if the intercom is busy. Indoor units can be connected to multiple alarm sensors. The VTSS5000 optimised software services can manage 5000 video intercom IDs and 200 IP devices.
