The trade-only distributor Midwich has made a second acquisition within weeks of buying DVS. Midwich has agreed to acquire Nimans Limited and its subsidiaries from Nycomm Holdings Limited.

Nimans is a Manchester-based specialist distributor of communications, telecoms and audio visual technologies. Nimans was founded in 1981 and was built based in the UK telephony hardware market. In recent years the business has expanded into voice over internet protocol (VOIP), security, and networking selling such brands as Yealink, Jabra, and BT. Nimans trades with over 2,500 telephony, IT and retail customers and employs over 200 staff.

In its latest audited financial statements, for the year ended 31 December 2020, Nimans generated consolidated revenues of £114.3m. Completion is subject only to the regulator FCA’s approval and is expected in the first half of 2022. As a tech distributor Midwich has been largely in the IT and audio-visual sectors.

Stephen Fenby, Midwich Group Managing Director, pictured, said: “Nimans is a long-established business with a great reputation for technical excellence, customer service and logistics competence. Its traditional telecoms market has been changing, bringing with it new revenue opportunities which the company has developed strongly, in areas such as unified communications, video conferencing, security and networking. I believe that the combined skill sets and capabilities of Midwich and Nimans bring a unique offering into the market in terms of providing complex solutions involving multiple technologies. I know that partnering with Midwich was a big decision for the owners of Nimans, and we are delighted that they chose us to continue the legacy of the company’s founder, Julian Niman. We have known the Nimans team for many years, and I believe there is a great cultural fit between the two businesses.”

Mark Lowe, Midwich UK & Ireland Managing Director, said: “Great people are what make a difference in our industry, and I am therefore delighted to be welcoming the Nimans team to our Group. There will be a great many benefits and opportunities for our vendors and customers in the coming months.”

Richard Carter, Nimans Sales Director, said: “When we met with Midwich the cultural fit was evident from the outset and the product fit is fantastic. Combining our efforts gives us a somewhat unique positioning in the UK with our ability to offer the exciting combination of UC, AV and Security.”

Paul Burn, Nimans Purchasing and Operations Director, said: “This is a really exciting development for Nimans. For our staff it opens new opportunities within a group that shares our core values and secures an exciting future. For our customers and suppliers, it gives access to new markets and opportunities that can only be a win, win for everybody.”

And Stephen McIntyre, Nimans Marketing Director, said: “There are many opportunities that come from our two well respected brands operating together in our burgeoning technology sectors. I am excited at the prospect of the new areas we can take the Nimans brand into, as well as offering even more choice to our existing customers.”
