Peerage for Mitie chief

by Mark Rowe

Ruby McGregor-Smith CBE, pictured, the CEO of the facilities management contractor Mitie Group PLC, is among those becoming a life peer in the latest, 2015 dissolution list, nominated by the Conservative Party.

She’s the chair of the Women’s Business Council, set up in 2012 to advise the Government on how to support women’s progress in the workplace. Earlier this year she was awarded the ICAEW Outstanding Achievement award for her contribution to business and diversity initiatives. She’s an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.

Mitie’s services include security; its security customers include broadcaster Sky, Eurostar, the IT firm Fujitsu, and Sellafield nuclear power station where the FM firm runs the civilian guard force.

– The former Lib Dem MP for Hornsey and Wood Green until the 2015 election and during the Coalition government sometime Home Office minister responsible for the SIA, Lynne Featherstone, becomes a life peer.
