PTZ cameras

by Mark Rowe

New from Overview Ltd, UK developers of sensor and camera positioning products, is their Hydra 3000 series of rugged PTZ surveillance cameras.

The Hydra 3000 has been designed to support operation in harsh, outdoor areas. Incorporating the same build of Overview’s Hydra family of Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras, Hydra 3000 combines aesthetic design in a rugged housing, made from die-cast aluminium. Pan and tilt are driven directly, without intermediate belts or gears, by Overview’s Servotorq Integrated Servo Motors to give positional accuracy and repeatability, as well as smooth and silent motion, the makers say.

The product comes with a 2MP, HD optical 30x zoom camera module and IP video encoder. It features digital I/O, a built-in wiper and automatic de-fogger. The combined, intelligent illumination option delivers adaptive zoom lighting, with a range of up to 200m. A new automatic infra-red illumination feature enables surveillance by night.

As for installation, Its two cable connectivity, plus a range of brackets and mounts allow install in applications such as industrial plant, marine, petrochemical, and the public sector, the company says.
