Solar panels for mobile CCTV

by Mark Rowe

Wavesight is launching its first complete remote power product, designed for fixed or mobile CCTV in remote locations where normal utility power is not available or is too costly to install. Using solar panels, the WaveRPS generates 72W of continuous off-grid power, which can be used to run a CCTV system. Optically corrected solar cells gather ambient light from all angles, even on overcast days, whereas conventional flat panels only work with direct sunlight, the makers say. The unit can be mounted on all types of street furniture and works with any type or make of CCTV camera.

Steve Pittom, Wavesight MD, said, “Following a substantial period of research and development, we are delighted to offer our highly reliable, remote solar power solution, which fully complements our world leading secure wireless network products. This power solution enables the rapid deployment of video surveillance networks without the need for the significant expense of civil works for power or communications, market feedback from our initial launch at Intersec has been phenomenal.”

The product is described as small and lightweight, portable and quick to deploy. Custom-designed and made in the UK and the USA, using military-grade components, the WaveRPS is the firm says suitable for commercial and industrial applications, including:

•CCTV Surveillance Equipment
•Wireless Radios
•Radio Transmitters, Receivers
•LED Lighting
•Oil and Gas Instrumentation
•SCADA and Telemetry
•Irrigation Systems
•Last Mile Communications
•Water Pumping, Valves; and
•Perimeter Protection.

Wavesight will be displaying this new product at IFSEC 2014. For more information, contact Steve Pittom – [email protected]
