New from Securitas in the UK: a CCTV vehicle with an internal power system charged by solar power.
Securitas reports that it has adopted several environmentally focused policies, alongside a company target of decreasing exhaust emissions on a yearly basis.
The security firm Securitas installed two flat solar panels to the roof of its newly designed Mobile CCTV Operational Unit. The CCTV van is in use across some Marks and Spencer stores, where the firm is the security contractor.
The van outside showcases the Securitas branding, acting as a visual deterrent. The vehicle has three externally fixed cameras, and a PTZ camera, mounted on the roof. The left, right and rear the van is fitted with audible alarm monitors. These are activated by PIR when an individual gets too close. The van comes with audio and microphone so that the user can direct or warn people when they are too close.
Inside the van; monitoring and admin. The solar panels automatically trickle charge the six utility batteries, for a constant supply of power whilst preventing the batteries from becoming flat. This means that the CCTV Van doesn’t have to be running to power the van’s facilities.
The company says that the Mobile CCTV Operational Unit can be deployed to deter crime, or to prevent a reoccurrence of incidents.
The new CCTV van’s first deployment was at the request of Avon and Somerset Police, where Securitas work to provide crime scene guarding. Several other customers in the south west region have requested a viewing of the van, the company adds.
Michael Clancy, Area Director of the South West says: “Securitas are able to offer a flexible and effective solution. The Mobile CCTV Operational Unit can be deployed in response to particular issues, or as a proactive deterrent should there be a history of seasonal criminal activity.”
