SIA NI consultation

by Msecadm4921

In Northern Ireland, the Department of Justice minister David Ford is seeking views on the future regulation of the private security industry in the region. The consultation will be used to determine how the industry in Northern Ireland should be regulated. The paper will consider three main areas:

ย

ย

A review of the impact of Security Industry Authority licensing since its introduction in December 2009ย

Options for future regulation of the private security industry in Northern Ireland; and

Northern Ireland specific issues.

ย

The closing date for responses is Friday, August 24. The consultation paper is available from the Department of Justice website: www.dojni.gov.uk/index/public-consultations/current-consultations.htm

ย

The department is organising workshops and focus groups to further discuss these issues. Contact the DOJ for further details: PSI@dojni.x.gsi.gov.uk.ย ย

Vehicle immobilisation on private land will become an offence in England and Wales from October. This will not extend to Northern Ireland, however, the Department of Justice is seeking views on whether it should apply similar measures.ย
