A manufacturer of remote intervention equipment, Soil Machine Dynamics (SMD), has manned guarding and electronic security at its base in Wallsend, North Tyneside. A manned guarding presence is on hand at the warehouse 24-7. Gary Ward, Facilities Manager at SMD, chose Axis Security after a tender process as he had worked with the company before. He said: “The attention to detail in Axis Security’s proposal was very impressive. The service to date has reinforced my views of the company; nothing has been left out and everything has been thought through.” Guard duties include both ‘traditional’ manned guarding patrols as well as monitoring and responding to CCTV – also provided by Axis Security – that covers the three buildings and yards.
Established in 1970, SMD has a sub-sea heritage as it pioneered the design and manufacture of seabed ploughs. After the acquisition of Hydrovision in 2003, SMD has grown to be the world’s leading independent designer and manufacturer of workclass and specialist subsea remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Jonathan Levine, Group CEO of Axis Security, says that the company is proud to be working with a leader in its field: “Given the sensitive nature of SMD’s business, security is paramount, and it reflects well on us that SMD has chosen to work with a business that understands howmanpower and technology can combine to deliver an effective security solution.” Visit www.axis-security.co.uk
