LED version

by Mark Rowe

Power management product company Eaton announced that its Cooper Lighting and Safety business has launched an LED version of its range of fluorescent mains lighting, the Crompack. The Crompack LED is for lighting spaces such as factories, warehouses, plant rooms, corridors, hospitals and schools.

The new launch incorporates a range of linear LED luminaires, with a range of lumen options. The longer lifespan of LED solutions reduces the requirement for regular lamp changes and associated maintenance costs, particularly in 24-7 operations and inaccessible areas. The LED range also offers the option of built-in control gear for intelligent operation and an emergency standby can be incorporated.

Greg Herring, product manager for mains lighting within Eaton’s Cooper Lighting and Safety business, said: “The new range of Crompack LEDs have been specifically developed in response to the ever increasing demand for LED lighting solutions in the market today.

“The traditional preference was for fluorescent lighting, which was perceived as being lower in cost. However, this LED solution is not only highly energy efficient but has a longer life and therefore requires less maintenance, which makes the overall cost of ownership extremely competitive in the long term. Our new LED range features optical control and performance which is highly effective and ECA compliant, thus providing electrical contractors and wholesalers with an even wider choice of affordable and efficient products.”

The Crompack LED is available in nominal four, five and six foot formats, ideal for both new installations and retro-fit applications. The range offers lumen outputs of up to 10300lm delivering efficiencies of up to 114lm/cW across three luminaire lengths. The options include dimmable control gear and integrated control options providing occupancy detection and daylight harvesting to maximise energy saving. Also its LED strip and driver combinations, with purpose design optics and thermal management, are designed to maximise control gear life and performance according to the firm.

There is also a three hour maintained emergency option on the new Crompack LED which uses the LED lens designed and developed by Eaton. This provides it is claimed superior distribution, thus minimising the number of emergency luminaires required.

Eaton adds that Crompack LED products also feature a two-part housing, for quick and simple installation. The first fix plate allows mechanical mounting and electrical connections to be made, the optic unit then connects on a plug and socket and snap fits to the base, with two retained screws adding integrity to the installation for authorised access only.

A whistle-stop tour of the country with an Eaton van is also taking place during September to promote the new product. Details on the UK roadshow are at: www.cooper-ls.com.
