Walk through metal detector

by Mark Rowe

Rapiscan Systems, Inc has launched the Metor 6E walk through metal detector. Developed for critical infrastructure use, such as at airport checkpoints, the Metor 6E features a two-dimensional location display function. A 60-segment location display enables operators to locate alarmed items. With immunity in the presence of electrical instruments or other walk-through metal detectors, the makers add that the product mitigates the impact of possible external interference.

Brad Buswell, president, Aviation Programs, Rapiscan Systems, said: “Rapiscan’s Metor line of metal detectors has been screening people for over 40 years and is known for its durability, reliability and ease-of-use. Expanding on these basic principles, the Metor 6E has been updated to include new capabilities to meet the ever-changing threat environment. This latest detector combines the strictest regulatory level detection performance with the most accurate location function in the market for use in even the most demanding environments.”

The product meets both the EU Standard 2 performance requirements for walk through metal detectors for aviation as well as the US National Institutes of Justice (NIJ) threat detection standards for medium to large threats. With upgrades by SD card, the product can adopt new detection parameters, language revisions and other added features, so that the checkpoints are future-proofed.
