Car park award

by msecadm4921

The Central Lodge in Huddersfield has picked up a safety and security award for its car park. West Yorkshire Assistant Chief Supt David Lunn of Kirklees police presented Joe Marsden of the hotel with their Park Mark Safer Parking Award. They’re given to businesses who have taken steps towards making their car parks safer and more secure places.

The scheme is an ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) crime prevention initiative, administered by the British Parking Association and police architectural liaison officers, who survey the car parks, for crime preventing measures such as CCTV, controlled gates, lighting and regular patrols.

Gerry Gallagher, Architectural Liaison Officer for Kirklees police said: “The Park Mark Award is aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime in parking facilities, requiring owners and operators to adopt measures to ensure that opportunities for crime are reduced and that the car park is a safe and non-threatening environment. The Central Lodge have deserved their award as their car park is safe, secure, regularly patrolled, with the staff of the family run business taking great care and consideration for safety of the customers and business people who use their car park.”

Phil Taylor, regional development manager for the ‘Park Mark’ scheme added: “The Huddersfield Central Lodge Hotel have been awarded the Police Safer Parking Award for over eight years. The Safer Parking Scheme aims to set standards, which make carrying out crime within a parking facility extremely difficult. The Marsden family have not only met these standards, but throughout the years that they have held the award they have continuously improved their levels of security. This to me demonstrates not only their commitment to the Safer Parking Scheme, but most importantly their customers which ensures that those customers staying at the Hotel will not be a victim of crime.

“All the staff and owners of the Huddersfield Lodge Hotel are to be congratulated in their magnificent achievement of having no crime in their car park during the last eight years.”

On recieveing the award, Joe Marsden of the Central Lodge said: “We have been involved in the Park Mark scheme now for 20 years. We are pleased for our guests and customers to have achieved this award again.”
