Test guidelines

by msecadm4921

In 2011, the WIK/ASW survey showed that the most important investment criterion for security products, installers and manufacturers is VdS endorsement.

The German testing house VdS has now re-issued its established guidelines 2344 “Procedures for the testing, approval, certification and conformity assessment of products and systems for fire protection and security technologies”. The main amendments include expanding the procedures to incorporate EN/ISO/IEC certification and a VdS Home endorsement for products primarily used for private purposes.

“Our customers and partners were particularly interested in objective proof of EN conformity issued by our accredited institute. We will gladly offer them those new procedures”, head of security laboratories Günter Grundmann says. “Improved notification of product modifications was also high on the VdS partners’ wish lists. We have responded to this and simplified our processes.”

The new VdS 2344 took effect on July 1, and is available at www.vds.de/2344. The document provides manufacturers with information on test bases, test samples and of course processes at the European institute.
