SIA transition head

by msecadm4921

Dianne Tranmer has been appointed Director of Transition at the Security Industry Authority. She will lead work on the transition of the SIA to the new regulatory regime. She joined the SIA in 2003 as Assistant Director of Compliance and Investigation. Since then she has worked across the London-based regulator, in roles such as Acting Director of Operations and Deputy Director of Transition, and has been responsible for bringing in the compliance strategy, the corporate services review and the transition. She has been in the director role on an interim basis since February 2012, after the retirement of Hazel Russell.

Dianne Tranmer said: “I am delighted to have been appointed Director of Transition and am very much looking forward to the challenge ahead. I will continue to build on the work that has already been undertaken to successfully effect the transition to a new regulatory regime, and look forward to meeting and working with our many stakeholders in the near future.”

Background

The Security Industry Authority reports to the Home Secretary under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. The SIA’s main duties are: the compulsory licensing of individuals undertaking designated activities; and managing the voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme. The SIA is working on plans for a “phased transition to a new regulatory regime” as announced by the Coalition Government in autumn 2010. Future regulation is subject to approval by Parliament and the devolved administrations in Northern Ireland and Scotland, but is expected to focus on the licensing of businesses. The political and institutional moves towards the new regime are expected to come after the Olympics and Paralympics.
