Some nine UK companies visited Astana, Semey and Atyrau from October 21 to 25, 2013 as part of a UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) trade mission to meet Kazakh contacts.

This visit was the first of its kind and demonstrated what the UK has to offer to Kazakhstan’s public and private sector industry. The UKTI mission followed a series of government to government engagements, including the recent visit by the UK Prime Minister David Cameron to Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan security sector offers a range of opportunities for UK companies. These include:

energy security – specific opportunities include security for oil & gas installations; pipe-line security; on shore security (CCTV)
civilian security – specific opportunities for access control systems; civilian monitoring (emergency, geology, etc.); airport/ port security; cyber security
event security – potential future opportunities at Expo 2017; University Games 2017; possible Olympic Winter Games 2022.

The AIPS exhibition since its launch three years ago as a security and fire safety event in Kazakhstan, sees domestic and international companies showcasing their new products. In 2013, over 50 companies from Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic and Sweden participated at the event. The exhibition was visited by over 3,580.

The following have already confirmed their participation in 2014: Dahua, Axis, 2N, Mavili, and N-Net Technology.

Elmer Zhang, Dahua Technology, European Sales Director said: “The Kazakhstan market offers a big potential due to high technology customs and regulations. At AIPS we met some important clients and managed to double the revenue after the exhibition. Participating in AIPS is the quickest way of entering this fast-developing market.”

The next edition of the event will run from March 12 to 14, 2014 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. For more information – visit www.aips.kz.
