IR bullet camera

by Mark Rowe

New from Dahua Technology, the Chinese manufacturer and supplier of video surveillance products based in Hangzhou, is its multi-lens 180-degree panoramic network infra-red bullet camera.

The IR bullet camera IPC-PFW8601-A180 is for capturing wide area video surveillance. With real-time image splicing, the camera has three 2MP sensors working in tandem to create an 180-degree view. This camera can replace multiple single-sensor cameras for lower cost of installation, storage and maintenance, the makers say.

Adjustments can be made to each sensor on contrast and brightness to achieve a panorama view. The multi-lens camera supports a day-night mechanical IR cut filter and true wide dynamic range (WDR, 120dB) which make it suitable it is claimed for use in fluctuating lighting. The camera deploys Dahua’s Starlight technology to deliver usable video with minimal ambient light.

The camera comes with an intelligent video analytic algorithm, to offer functions like ‘tripwire’, intrusion detection, abandoned or missing objects, to respond to events in a specific area. The camera also features face detection and intelligent tamper detection.

The camera has smart IR technology which can adjust the intensity of camera’s infrared LEDs to compensate for distance. Smart IR prevents infra-red LEDs from whitening out images as they come closer to the camera.

With an operating ambient temperature range of minus 40 degrees C to 60 degrees C, IP67 and IK10 rating, this camera suits the makers claim outdoor applications including open areas such as borders, coastlines, highway, squares and stadiums.
