ONVIF at Intersec 2017

by Mark Rowe

ONVIF, the US-based standardisation body for IP-based physical security products, is presenting at the Intersec 2017 exhibition, which runs on January 23 and 24, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. ONVIF is there as part of the show’s Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Conference.

Jonathan Lewit, Chair of the ONVIF Communication Committee, will be speaking on behalf of ONVIF, on “Standards and the Dynamics of IOT in Physical Security Critical Infrastructure”. He’ll be covering the role of interoperability standards such as those developed by ONVIF in the deployment of physical security infrastructure and in broader Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Lewit, who also serves as Director of Technology Leadership for Pelco by Schneider-Electric, will address how standards also can help ensure adherence to industry cyber security measures.

Per Björkdahl, Chairman of the ONVIF Steering Committee, said: “Cyber security, inter-disciplinary integration and interoperability are essential to successful physical security and IoT deployments. Jonathan will speak to Intersec attendees about what this looks like in everyday practical terms, sharing how some of our members are using the ONVIF specification to address all three factors at once.”

Lewit will be speaking on the Monday, January 23, at 3:15pm in the Al Multaqua Ballroom at the expo. Visit www.intersecexpo.com.
