Simply Food installs

by Mark Rowe

Eco-1, a ‘green’ electrical installation company has appointed Tecserv UK to install fire alarms within of a number of new Marks & Spencer ‘Simply Food’ stores around the UK.

Tecserv UK, based in Underwood, Nottingham, is one of a number of preferred suppliers working on a capital project aimed at rolling out new ‘Simply Food’ retail stores across the UK.

Each new store will be installed with an analogue addressable fire alarm system using Apollo Discovery Protocol. The installers say that Apollo was chosen because their smoke and heat sensors have a high immunity to false alarms but are able to quickly distinguish a real fire situation.

In 2009, Apollo was awarded the Royal Warrant by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, in recognition of its official supplier status to the Royal Household. Apollo was the first UK company of its kind to hold three consecutive Queen’s Awards for Export Achievement.

Tecserv UK, project Manager Lewis Russell said: “We are very conscious of the need to liaise with other contractors working on each new build to ensure that our installation timetable is kept in tune with other works being carried out. We ensured strict compliance with fire safety regulations and that our phase of the project is completed on time and within budget.”

Eco-1, based in the West Midlands, provide electrical installations. John Jenkinson, Operations Director at Eco-1, said: “M&S has a very strict global fire strategy. It was important we partnered with a fire solutions specialist that shared our ethos for using green technology as well as the knowledge and expertise required to meet all project deadlines.”

Tecserv adds that it has been installing and maintaining fire and security systems within M&S retail and food stores for a number of years. The company is also updating the fire alarms in existing stores.
