Malta voting cards

by Mark Rowe

The voting cards for the General Parliament Elections in Malta earlier this June were delivered by the Belgian firm Agfa, through the Maltese importers and distributors Attard & Co Imaging, to the Malta Electoral Commission. According to the firms, they were selected it for the synthetic card material and the tamper proof security features.

Until recently, the production of the Maltese voting cards required the lamination of paper cards with printed security features and personalisation data. Agfa says that its polyester-based PETix PPF opaque film made of Polyethylene Terephtalate (PET), delivers water and tear resistance without the need for lamination. This allows the voting cards to feature multiple security prints designed with Agfa’s FORTUNA High Security Design software.

Marc Van Damme, VP Marketing and Sales Agfa Specialty Products, said: “Agfa is honoured by having been assigned the Malta voting card project. Having delivered on promise even within an advanced deadline illustrates how Agfa’s competences in such divergent areas as film manufacturing as well as security print design and print management work in sync to serve customer needs.”

About PETix
