Locksmith tools for access

by Mark Rowe

Fire services are being asked to gain access to locked properties, to deal with welfare issues besides emergencies. Specialist locksmith tools can help, say trainers.

MPL, a Wakefield-based provider of locksmith training courses and trade supplies, report that they are providing a number of fire services with lock puller kits that enable access to uPvc and composite doors in less than two minutes.

MPL director Nicky England said: “The amount of damage caused by forced entry can often run into hundreds of pounds. Using our lock puller kits results in far less damage, sometimes resulting in just a £4 for a replacement cylinder. We’ve been helping to tackle a similar issue with Shoreline Housing in Grimsby. By training up a number of their staff as locksmiths they are now able to accompany Humberside Police on raids and negate the need to bash down doors.”
