H.265 fisheye camera

by Mark Rowe

The Hong Kong manufacturer WAMA has released a new 12-megapixel H.265 fisheye camera with 360 degree view and without blind spots. The makers say that the fisheye camera delivers video streams for surveillance and situational awareness, allowing objects in the vicinity to be viewed in detail. Given the high resolution, the camera can also dewarp the fisheye image into different viewing compositions.

The H.265 video compression reduces the network traffic and storage requirement by half, it is claimed, in comparison to H.264. By optimising the network bandwidth while maintaining the video details of up to 12MP resolution, overall storage costs can be minimised, the manufacturer adds.

The camera comes with a processing unit that allows built-in dewarping functions without the need of other servers or software. Users can also select viewing modes depending on their surveillance or recording requirements, including the original fisheye view, 360 degree panoramic view, 180 degree double panoramic view, and dewarped views with pan, tilt and zoom. The fisheye can also be installed on the ceiling or on the wall.

The product features a Sony 1/1.7-inch 12.4MP CMOS sensor and offers automatic network replenishment (ANR), Micro SD slot for recording, and infra-red (IR) illumination besides Power over Ethernet (PoE). Visit www.wamatech.co.
