Personnel awards

by Mark Rowe

The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has announced the regional winners of its annual Security Personnel Awards. Those regional winners will now go forward as national finalists to the British Security Awards in London on Wednesday, July 10, at the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square.

The BSIA holds its annual awards to celebrate excellence in security, regionally and nationally, by outstanding personnel who have gone beyond the call of duty in their everyday work.

For over 20 years these awards, sponsored by Camberford Underwriting, serve to recognise the talent, dedication, skill and bravery by security personnel in their roles, whether literally saving lives or aiding police investigations. In 2019 the regional winners showed acts customer service, teamwork and forward thinking from across the UK; a spectrum of BSIA members and their clients.

Mike Reddington, Chief Executive of the BSIA, pictured, said: “It is vital as the voice of the professional security industry that we recognise the great lengths security personnel go to in keeping the public and property safe. More often than not, these security professionals are first on the scene when incidents and emergencies occur and they demonstrate true quality and professionalism in their actions. This year’s regional winners are no exception and have shown remarkable achievements throughout the past year.

“Judging all the inspirational nominations was a tough task, especially as the process included a substantial number of entries. This year’s winners should be immensely proud of their achievements and we wish them the best of luck as they go forward to the national stage at the British Security Awards in July.”

The 2019 regional winners by company are:

VSG (Best Newcomer, Best Team, Outstanding Act, Service to the Customer)
SecuriGroup (Best Newcomer, Outstanding Act)
OCS Group (Outstanding Act, Best Team)
Westgrove Group (Service to the Customer, Best Use of Technology, Outstanding Act)
MAN Commercial Protection (Best Team)
G4S (Best Newcomer, Outstanding Act)
Mitie (Best Team, Outstanding Act)

In 2018, the BSIA’s Annual Luncheon and Awards were re-branded as the British Security Awards – open to all security companies, not only BSIA members. Visit www.britishsecurityawards.co.uk.
