Safer Internet Day will be held this year on Tuesday, February 7. To coincide with the event, organised by Insafe, Cambridgeshire information security specialist, The Security Company, has issued guidelines to help parents and children to work together to stay safe online. This year, Safer Internet Day will be promoting the idea of parents becoming more involved in protecting their children online, without interfering with their activities. The Security Company’s guide offers practical advice on how to achieve this.
“Insafe reports that 26 per cent of children have a public social networking profile. Social networking sites are a great way of keeping in touch and sharing photos, interests and experiences with friends and family,” says The Security Company’s Marketing Executive Lisa Spriggs. “However, fraud, scams and cyberbullying are rife, and while children may be confident using the internet, they still need an adult’s involvement, advice and support.”
