Forklift Challenge

by msecadm4921

Veritas DGC are a provider of geophysical services to the petroleum industry. At their premises, they sought security yet rapid operation of gates used by forklift drivers with a card reader system.

This all had to be accomplished within a limited space internally, to secure the entrance to a busy warehouse and prevent unauthorised staff from entering. Manufacturer Frontier Pitts developed a range of bi-folding and speed gates. They are manufactured in widths of up to eight metres, and heights of six metres. The individual gate leaves can be ?guided? by either an overhead gantry or underground track. The underground track unit allows for high-speed operation and for any height of vehicle to pass through the aperture, the manufacturers report. Safety options include electric safety edges, vehicle detection loops and traffic light systems. Individual customising includes site-specific gate leaf design or infill material in a colour scheme to match the surrounds.
