Tavcom revamped

by Mark Rowe

IDIS DirectIP video products will help train security people when Tavcom’s revamped training centre in Bishops Waltham is officially opened later this year.

Tavcom, who are a Hampshire-based supplier of security systems training courses, will be shutting their training centre for two weeks over the summer to overhaul its workshops. When completed, Tavcom will be able to support its BTEC certificated courses with ‘hands-on’ facilities and let students put theory into practice. Alongside equipment from other manufacturers, Tavcom will be installing IDIS DirectIP product comprising ten units of two-megapixel IP cameras, five network video recorders (NVRs) and five Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) switches operated and managed through the IDIS Centre bundled video management system (VMS). Tavcom’s trainers will use DirectIP to help educate installers, operators, security managers and system designers on how to design, install and configure video surveillance systems that take advantage of the advanced technology built into the latest generation of HD megapixel cameras and IP network based solutions.

Mike Tennent, Managing Director of Tavcom, said: “We are very grateful to IDIS for providing an extensive list of products for our training centre. We are determined to maintain our position as the market leading security systems training provider and with the support of IDIS, we will now have the best equipped workshop facilities anywhere in the world.”

And Jamie Barnfield, Senior Sales Manager of IDIS Europe, said: “This is a real coup for IDIS as security operatives from across Europe will experience first-hand DirectIP during Tavcom training. As proven at the IFSEC launch, DirectIP speaks for itself – cost-effective full HD surveillance that’s simple to install and operate combined with unrivalled quality and performance. We fully expect users to come away realising the power and capability DirectIP can deliver.”

Packaged as a one-stop-shop, DirectIP comprises a range of cameras and network video recorders (NVR). For more information, e-mail [email protected]
