Mike leaves ASIS chair

Mike Alexander is stepping down after four years as chairman of the UK chapter of the US-based security management body ASIS International, at the winter meeting and AGM on December 11.

The event host, Andy Williams, pictured, at Nomura bank in London EC4R, has put his name forward to become chairman. That afternoon meeting is members’ first chance to see as new management committee members Dawn Holmes CPP (for the chapter’s Women in Security work); Dr Peter Speight CSyP, director of security risk management at Securitas; and Dr Mike McDonagh, the former Met Police detective chief superintendent now Group Head of Operational Security and Intelligence at Prudential Plc. Seeking re-election are officers Craig Pickard as treasurer, and vice-chairmen Graham Bassett and Mike Hurst. Speakers at the event are Dr Mark Button of Portsmouth University on the real cost of fraud; Grant White, of Intercontinental Hotels; and Tim Williams of intelligence and risk consultancy Stirling Assynt. The counter-surveillance company Esoteric Ltd are again sponsoring the AGM and chapter sponsor is Elle Security.
