Training

Virtual session

by Mark Rowe

The US-based IT association ISACA and Deloitte LLP have developed virtual instructor led training (VILT), which offers online personal interaction between students and an experienced instructor. The first of these in-depth courses is “Analytics in Action: Utilizing Data Analytics to Support Enterprise Risk,” on July 9, 16, 23 and 30 2015.

The IT body and the audit firm say that the emergence of analytics to improve audit quality is on trend as one of the most useful audit tools available. This new, virtual course will give participants the tools and techniques to integrate analytics into their own enterprise. A Deloitte instructor will facilitate the session in a collaborative environment with industry peers. Through a range of practical presentations and demonstrations, attendees of the four, two-hour sessions will learn:

· A definition of analytics—common uses, benefits, impact in business, risks and controls

· An understanding technologies used to perform effective data analytics

· An explanation of various uses of analytics

· How to identify where analytics can be effectively leveraged

· How to plan and perform an audit using analytics concepts

Christos K Dimitriadis, Ph.D., CISA, CISM, CRISC, international president of ISACA and group director of Information Security for INTRALOT, said: “Analytics becomes a key enabler of the execution of the audit strategy, making this intense training session valuable, timely and very relevant. The virtual session gives professionals around the world an opportunity to increase knowledge and skills from the comfort and convenience of their own desks, saving them time and travel expenses.”
