Prison control room

by Mark Rowe

A UK prison is upgrading its control room after a previous installation delivered 60,000 hours of faultless operation.

The unidentified prison first installed eyevis displays in early 2009 and they have been operating 24-7 ever since. It is now upgrading, by installing ten eyevis 47-inch LCD displays and a Netpix 4900 video wall controller.

eyevis UK managing director Steve Murphy, pictured, said: “The fact that our displays have been in faultless operation for around 60,000 hours demonstrates the high durability and serviceability which are vital in control rooms, particularly those in a high security prison. This track record has ultimately led to the customer upgrading its technology with eyevis UK.”

The eyevis 47-inch LCD screens include optimised features to prevent so called ‘image sticking’ effects which are likely to occur it is claimed on other LCD monitors, especially when static content is displayed over prolonged time.

The Netpix range is capable of combining individual outputs into a coherent large video wall display, which can be used to present network data as well as video and graphics sources.
