Apprentice Installer Awards

by Mark Rowe

As the deadline for nominations to the 2016 Apprentice Installer Awards nears, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) is calling for security companies to recognise their outstanding apprentices.

Awarded by the BSIA, these awards recognise the best emerging talent from the electronic security industry. Now in their 16th year, the awards also serve to acknowledge the commitment of security companies and training bodies in bringing new talent into the security industry.

The deadline for 2016 nominations is April 18. Nominations can be made for second and third year apprentices from security companies – including non-BSIA member companies – certified for their activities by a UKAS accredited certification body. Apprentices must be involved in the installation of alarms, CCTV, access control or a combination of these systems. The scheme is designed particularly for third year apprentices or outstanding second year apprentices.

James Kelly, Chief Executive of the BSIA, says: “Recognising the skills of our industry’s newest recruits is essential in encouraging them to commit to a long-term career in security. The awards enable us to ensure that their hard work, commitment to customer service and technological expertise are suitably rewarded.”

This year’s awards will be presented at the BSIA’s Annual Luncheon, at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Tuesday, July 12.

The 2016 Apprentice Installer Awards are sponsored by Eaton, the manufacturers of security equipment for commercial and residential premises. Tony Walsh, Vice President of Engineering and Business Leader at Eaton Security, says: “As a business, Eaton Security places a high priority on training and development and are therefore very proud to sponsor the Apprentice Installer Awards which recognise the achievements of installer apprentices.”

The BSIA would like to extend its thanks to Eaton Security for their support of this year’s awards.

Companies interested in nominating their apprentice/s for this year’s Apprentice Installer Awards can do so by downloading a nomination form via this link: http://www.bsia.co.uk/Portals/4/documents/awards/aia-2016-entry-form.pdf.
