London infosec date

In its 21st edition, Infosecurity Europe, the information security event, will see more companies exhibit than ever before when it opens its doors today at Olympia, west London, pictured – including three times more new exhibitors than in 2015, say organisers Reed. The three-day show opens at 9.30am each day to Thursday, June 9, closing at 5.30pm each afternoon, except 4pm on the final day.

Infosecurity Europe’s conference will host over 160 hours of sessions with over 260 speakers presenting in eight conference theatres. Explorer Levison Wood and former Conservative leader Lord Hague of Richmond will give opening keynotes in the event’s Keynote Stage Theatre, the hub of the conference, on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. That Keynote Stage will feature senior representatives from private and public sector organisations including ASOS.com, Barclays, GSMA, Imperial College London, KPN Telecom, LinkedIn, Marks & Spencer, Metropolitan Police Service, National Trust, Network Rail, Sky, Ticketmaster, Uber, Unilever and the UK Transport Sector. Three Hall of Fame alumni will present – Chief Research Officer Mikko Hypponen; Security Technologist Bruce Schneier; and Advisor, Europol and Security Researcher, Rik Ferguson.

Tuesday, June 7:

10:00 – 11:00: (Keynote Stage) Perceptions of Risk, Resilience and Operational Security
Drawing on his experiences walking the Nile and the Himalayas and during deployments across Africa and Asia as a captain in the Parachute Regiment, Levison Wood will share his perspective on risk, resilience and operational security.

11:15 – 12:20: (Keynote Stage) Securing the Connected Human: Winning Hearts & Minds to Drive Secure Behaviour
Samantha Davidson, Security Awareness & Education Programme Manager, Uber; Thom Langford, Chief Information Security Officer, Global Security Office; Professor Angela Sasse, Director UK Research Institute in Science of Cyber Security; and Andrew Rose, CISO and Head of Cyber Security, UK Transport Sector are taking part in this panel event that delves into the challenge of changing behaviour to secure the connected human.

12:35 – 13:15: (Keynote Stage) Profiling the Connected Cybercriminal
Mikko Hypponen will share insight into cybercriminal motivations, behaviours, tactics and techniques and look at how organisations can defend themselves against cyber-attack.

12.40-13.05: (Tech Talks) Ready Player Two – The Role of AI in Security Operations
Neil Thacker, Information Security & Strategy Officer, Forcepoint, will discuss the lack of resources most security operations teams face today and explore the future of fast decision making, Artificial Intelligence (AI)

13:30 – 14:10 – (Keynote Stage) How to Build an Effective Security Team
Cory Scott, CISO at LinkedIn, will share insight into how LinkedIn finds and cultivates the best talent, motivates technologists to pursue a path in security and structures a security team to meet business goals.
