Academy anniversary

by Mark Rowe

The Axis Academy, the guarding and related services contractor Axis Group’s learning and development business division, is marking its first anniversary with an open day showcasing some of the 77 courses the company now has on offer. The open day runs on Thursday, September 27, at Axis’ head office in City Road in London.

In its first 12 months the Axis Academy has delivered a total of 122 courses, training 512 delegates. Duaine Taylor, Head of Learning and Development, says: “While the focus in our first year has been on security and health and safety-based learning, attendees will see that we also have courses that cover management skills, presentation skills and customer service focused training.”

Accreditations achieved over the last year include Qualsafe Awards, Highfield Qualifications, Worldhost and Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

“Our first year has surpassed our expectations, Duaine adds. “Not only are we delivering quality training to our teams of security, cleaning and front of house employees, but also we welcome a number of external clients including MJ Mapp, CBRE and Hallfield School. The next 12 months will see us increase the depth and range of courses on offer, gain further approvals for a number of our popular internal courses and further develop e-learning options – we’re confident this will enable us to increase our portfolio of external clients.”
