Free briefing morning for recruiters

by Mark Rowe

Employers of security officers are invited to attend a free event hosted by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Mercury Training Services in Birmingham city centre. It’s running at the DWP offices at Five Ways House, Islington Row Middleway, B15 1SL on Wednesday, February 6, between 1030am and midday.

One of the organisers, Paul Lawton-Jones of Mercury, told Professional Security: “The meeting is designed to help security organisations be more flexible in their approach to security recruitment and to look wider to reduce recruitment costs and the need for paying for agency staff.”

The morning (with refreshments) will brief security employers on ways to fill their security vacancies:

•Overview of voluntary ‘Disability Confident‘ scheme; (and several guarding companies are among firms who have already signed up for it)
•Part-time workers;
•Women in security;
•A round table discussion on how DWP can support recruitment needs for security employers.

If you would like to send a representative e-mail Wendy Anderson (for DWP) [email protected] or Paul Lawton-Jones at [email protected]. Or, you can reserve a place by calling Mercury on 01384 482186.
