Infrastructure Project Engineer

Location: Gloucester

Salary: £40,000 + Benefits

The Role

As an Infrastructure Project Engineer you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing customers’ infrastructures so that they can meet their business objectives. You will be working with both internal and external customers to ensure projects are successfully delivered within the required timeframes and specifications. The Technology Projects team will work alongside the Sales team to recommend products and services for customers’ infrastructure requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delivering technical projects according to the specifications and customer briefs
  • Providing updates on the project’s progress to relevant contacts
  • Maintaining all relevant project documentation and the knowledgebase
  • Providing support to resolve change management issues
  • Liaising with the Sales team to produce new business proposals and to review customers’ existing infrastructures, suggesting areas for modernisation
  • Ensuring all time spent on projects is recorded accurately within the system
  • Arranging meetings with customers to get authorisation and sign-off on project deliverables
  • Ensuring project handovers are completed in full, with the service desk
  • Ensuring knowledge of technologies/infrastructures is kept up-to-date and relevant
  • Any other duties specified by your line manager

Person Specification

Essential

  • 2 years or more experience working within an IT support environment or for a Managed Service Provider
  • At least 1 formal IT qualification (e.g. CCNA, CompTIA, MSCA & MSCE) or proven experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of Windows Server environments and Networking (HP, Cisco)
  • Exposure to virtualisation and cloud technologies including VMware, Hyper V and Azure environments
  • Ability to work within a team or using own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of MS 365 Administration
  • Desire to learn new skills and gain relevant qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience working on IT infrastructure projects involving planning, installation, and documentation
  • ITIL V4 Foundation qualification
  • Working knowledge of Veeam backup, Firewalls (SonicWall, Sophos), Antivirus configuration experience, AD, AAD, DHCP, DNS and Group Policy
  • Previous experience of setting up authentication and security methods
  • Knowledge of structured and fibre cabling

Working Conditions

The typical working environment will be office locations either at the office in Gloucester or customer offices. However, you will be expected to travel to and work at various customer sites. The job requires that you can lift and move typical IT equipment (PC’s and Laptops) from floor to desk. It is expected that there will be extended periods of time spent using Display Screen Equipment. Whilst at customers’ sites, you may be required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
