CSSC dines, adds groups

by Mark Rowe

The Cross-sector Safety and Security Communications (CSSC) group held a gala dinner on October 15 at the Grange City Hotel, London. Among the 200 attending were the Chair of Trustees for CSSC, Sir David Wootton, a former Lord Mayor of London; and Home Office minister James Brokenshire.

Brokenshire paid tribute to CSSC, saying: “Security arrangements do not need to change the look and feel of events. Achieving security requires a truly joint effort in order to provide enduring capability for the benefit of our economy and our country.”

CSSC has two new industry sectors: farming, and maritime. Phil Collins and Andrew Nicholson are the respective industry sector lead roles. Collins is Head of Security for the meat processing company Bernard Matthews; he is a key member of the National Business Crime Forum heading the intelligence cell and the National Farmers Union (NFU), with a reach of 50,000 NFU members. Nicholson is Director of Government and Industry Affairs at Drum-Cussac, the maritime business risk consultancy also covering piracy. Some 80pc of the world’s maritime security companies are thought to be based in the UK.
